problem with fsck

Hi I have a problem with fsck, the size of the hard disk is 1.5 TB and the server has 2GB of memory, I'm monotoring it with top command and every time the SIZE reaches 1024MB and RES 517MB fsck crashes. How could i resolve this? i haven't been able to check this disk. Thanks in advance for any
