Hello, I have followed your suggestions regarding -current. amd64 -current (GENERIC.MP) does no longer hangs when trying to detach re0, but now, re0 is sometimes detected correctly and sometimes not: I give the messages in both cases: Failure: re0 an pci2 dev0 function 0 "Realtek 8168" rev 0x02

Hello everybody, yes Sam, you are right, but this bios is a little bit different, there is only a setting regarding SATA: SATA0 legacy. with this option enabled, the kernel detects the hard drive, but is not able to initialize it in order to be partitioned . So i disabled this option and it is
