As previously mentioned, you can use xset(1) to disable DPMS (and the screensaver, if necessary). I use the following commands to disable and re-enable these temporarily. xset s off -dpms xset s on +dpms Since your keyboard also becomes unresponsive, it looks like you're problem is something
