The idea of the transparent polygon is to give a name to an area
without disrupting the rendering of other features in the same area.
The method of seeing this name is device dependent, but, on some,
clicking on the area gives a list of the names of all polygons the
cursor is within.

reg. search: You are probably right, address search works very different on the
Garmin devices. On the Oregon, I have several dialogs, first to chose country,
next to chose city or "all", next to type house number, last one asking for
road name. In this dialog there is no autocomplet

As suggested elsewhere, bays should be rendered as transparent and only
generated if named. I use this method for other areas and find it very
useful.
I don't understand what is being suggested by the references to POI in
this context; They are findable as Geographic > Water Features > Ba
