I'm stunned when I hear such news. I saw Short several times at the Carlyle, where he was ensconced for many years. It was kind of like Cole Porter was there with him, sitting on the piano.

As for Warner Bros. releases on DVD, I did pick up their 6 disk comedy
series the other day which had 2 disk sets of The Philadelphia Story
and Bringing Up Baby along with Libeled Lady, Dinner At Eight, Stage
Door and To Be or Not to Be. I have not had a chance to watch them yet.

Hi Joe and all: I thought the picture was great on "LAURA" although the
sound seemed a little muffled - the restored scene wasn't that great of
quality - probably because it had been cut before release. Yes, I was really
impressed with "LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN" too - but where are their other

Hi from Joe B.
I got the Laura as well from Best Buy (wish I'd had the coupon). I haven't
looked at the entire disc but I think the restoration is pretty good but not
super. This is the finally-released disc that was postponed last year. Could
it have been because they were trying to find bet
Forgive the Mex lobby headline :)
In the recent Heritage auction, the Bogart Passage to Marseille card lots went for between $125 and $150, never mind the shipping cost. I have a very similar lot from the set - 2 cards, including the featured card with Bogart and Michelle Morgan -- both for just $
Hope it's better than Fox Movie Channel. They run LAURA frequently with
a print they salvaged from the drive-in. I get that from
DirecTV. Ever wonder why their Fox's movie channel looks cheap?

Yes - It's great - I just got it this weekend at BestBuy for $5.00 (I had a
discount coupon) but the sale price there is $9.99. It's labeled #01 of "FOX

to note that "LAURA" was originally going to be part of the Fox Classi

Hi from Joe Bonelli.
Though he was not of the world of film, Bobby Short epitomized "class" for more
years than I'd like to count. He passed away today at the age of 80. Thought

While we can (and probably will) have discussions here on why or why not
high prices are good/bad for the hobby, I have made my position known on
this issue many times in the past and if you are not sure what it is, I
