I don't know if this is the case but I wouldn't be surprised
to find that the Academy sends such a contract out to
everyone nominated. Or it might be part of a larger
agreement, regarding the right to use their name and
image, right to record them on the broadcast, etc.

I guess it definitely means that most
members of MOPO are NOT subscribers to Movie Collector’s World

A copyright statement is just that, nothing more. It appears on just about

means I can't legally copy it and sell it (which is why it is called a

I think the reason that very few people mentioned Dennis here is because
most of his posts tended to be condescending, and perhaps a tad mean-spirited
and rude. Or, at least, that's what they would seem to people who didn't
know him (he'd probably get a chuckle out of that).

I agree with most of what you say in your post, even though I would
rate most of these films you mention lower than the 5's 6's & 7's you
give them.

disappointment I can't hardly put it into words. I thought that Peter

Title: RE: Kirby - around the world in 80 days
I agree with you Kirby, AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS must have been THE event. In my opinion, 80 Days is a better film than other “event” pictures like CLEOPATRA (more of a public relations juggernaut than a movie) and THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH (
As a certified magazine nut - the office is overrun with mags - I affirm that PREMIERE magazine is idiotic. We get itbecause MovieArt donates annually to the AFI. But I would never subscribe to it otherwise. The writing about film in anynumber of other - even non film-related mags - is better.

Hi, Zeev, et.al., from Joe Bonelli. I too agree (along with my friend Al) that GIANT is the film that should have won the Oscar for Best PIc that year (or just about ANY year) ; KING AND I would have been most deserving as well. But 80 DAYS is a wonderful entertainment. I saw it twice--

I'm old enough to have seen 80 Days when it was

forward to enjoying it once again, however,
