Restorers shouldn't sign their work, but they should sign a letter,
that lays out IN DETAIL what work they performed on the poster, plus
a before-restoration
photo should accompany this 'restoration certificate'.
Now THAT would help a lot, especially if you don't have a chance to

I'm curious on how exactly you came to this conclusion based on the two
set comparison?
Reason I'm questioning is that my Alien lobby card set was the second or
third acquirement into my collection. It was given to me by a friend
who managed a theater. He had about 10 sets he saved
*ARE YOU A VALUE SHOPPER WHEN IT COMES TO THIS HOBBY?* If so, tonight's
auctions, which consist solely of 650 window cards (including a wonderful
collection of scarce 1920s and 1930s titles!) and large format French
Italian posters including one-panels two-panels are made especially for
you!
today, ebay started a new policy of giving 5 free insertions per 30 day cycle,

Presumably this is the lead-in to charging for use of Turbolister (long mooted)
and making the laborious SYI function either cheaper or free... probably free
to lure back their dwindling base of small sellers - the bread and butter they
so roundly dismissed in their misguided bent on world
Hi Phil --- You're presuming there's a business model working here.
That's presumptuous. FRANC

when this notice from ebay first was sent out, it clearly indicated
what guidelines needed to be followed in order to get the 5 free
insertions..

LOVE AFFAIR,
Jeff,
I would certainly love to hold your card in my hands (or at least see a
scan) and compare it to the two sets that I have here.
Without doing so (and heck maybe even with), I can't explain it and barely
want to try.
If it is only one card, perhaps it has a miscut, I don't know what
Sean is definitely right about fake lobby cards being around longer than most
people realise, and as I have said before (either here or NSF or both) the
longer fakes (posters and lobby cards) are in the collecting food chain, the
tougher it is going to be to distinguish whole sets of fakes and
This exchange made finally made me dig out my set of LCs that were given to me
by the local NSS rep at the time of the movies release back in '79 - about as
impeccable a provenance as you can get - and they are all spot on with Sean's
originals. FWIW.
