Thanks for the response Bruce! It is comforting to know that you’ve come across other posters like this from the same time period. I guess the copyright wouldn’t have lapsed until the 60s so it wouldn’t have been in the public domain until then. That would then make sense for it to be from the 1

Harry It's likely from the 1938 re-release, because this coincides with the heyday of the "other company" type companies. I'd say it's surely not the "other company", Leader Press, or Woolever Press (looks unlike those, and the last two wrote their name on almost all they did). We have sold seve

Todd, "Rolled too tightly" is the deal here. Card stock posters may be rolled, but I would not give them at LEAST a six inch diameter roll. I would NOT store them that way. Store them flat. Otherwise they should be fine. But if they are rolled too tightly, they will migrate on the linen and

Thanks Todd… that is definitely helpful! I don’t believe it to be trimmed either as, one more thing I forgot to mention, there are pinholes in the corners (about where you would expect them). If it had been trimmed I assume those would probably be lost or at least much close to the edges. As

Thanks, Tom. And Franc, you are right, his films weren't a hit in the USA but he was one of biggest stars in the UK for most of the 1950s & early 1960s. Physical comedy can be sublimely hilarious when done well and crushingly awful when done badly. He did it pretty darn well! AN

Todd is quite correct. Linen and paper are two totally different materials. When you glue one to the other, over time, the stronger material will win out and ruin the weaker material. But rolling up posters on linen is only one part of the problem. The other part is that paper and canvas react diff

I truly hate paper-backing. Posters that have been paper-backed are inconvenient to store since you can't roll them. I'm also not fond of heavy stock posters that are linen-backed. I try to avoid both when purchasing for resale, since I believe it will really lower the value of all but the rarest o

Neil, According to any "good" paper conservationist, you should NEVER back paper artifacts with any kind of canvas. The rule of thumb is to always use "like" materials. If you mount a paper poster on linen, it's no loner a paper poster. It's not a hybrid. Paper backing is more expensive, but if you
