You are not bidding against yourself in your example. You are bidding
against a hidden reserve. Your prior bids will never change your original "high"
bid until you actually hit the reserve.
For example, if the reserve is 150 and the start is 25 and one person has
already bid 30. That per

I am 99.999% certain it is impossible to bid against yourself on eBay,
except in the exact "completing the bid increment" example
cited by Claude, or if you use two different eBay IDs that you
