Well, Anthony Lane might be an elitist, but he's funny. I love to
just pick up and read his anthology of film writing, NOBODY'S
PERFECT, and advise any of you who love film criticism to pick it up.
It's available in paperback and very entertaining.
But I do agree that in a couple of months
** Since when is a film's budget relevant to quality? I can think of many
examples of films whereby critics carped about gargantuan budgets not
meeting quality or box office expectations. (King Kong is the most recent
example, Poseidon and The Island are others.) A film's budget is part

** For god's sakes -- THIS IS A STORY ABOUT A MAN WHO WEARS RED AND BLUE
TIGHTS! If you have to think about this too deeply, DON'T go. All that
matters to most is whether the film's 2 1/2 hours are a waste of time. It
might be for hyper-intellectual-effetes and geeks -- but it was OK for me.
I agree with David. I wasn't expecting too much from the film as far as great acting. Saw it at the Imax theatre in the Tropicana casino in Atlantic City. I wanted to see how the 20 minutes of 3-D looked considering it was not filmed in 3-D. Looked very impressive on the large Imax
