YES!!! Peter Johnston's book, Choice Words is excellent! We ran a
study group on it through this listserv two (?) summers ago - it's
probably archived on the MOT websit
As a classroom teacher who worked with many student teachers over the years,
I can tell you this made my list of MUST READS for student teachers. As a
literacy coach and district level leader, it is still at the top of my list.
And it reads like silk, lots of gain, no pain.

I do not know of a list for smartboard. I have started a blog for my
district--it is quite basic--for beginners to get them going. I also have
started a wiki and would love you to join and add your ideas. The more of us
the more fun it will be. I am assuming you also already go to

I agree with the other posters. Choice Words is a must read. I've had
teachers tell me it completely changed the way they communicate with students.
