Our county is beginning the textbook adoption process for ELA/Reading. We are
working hard to help our teachers teach reading using Balanced Literacy. Have
any of you adopted materials that you feel really support the use of Balanced

I just purchased Linda Hoyt's book on Interactive Read Alouds for 2/3 and 4/5.
It provides teacher and kid friendly, well-balanced lessons to strengthen
specific comprehension skills. Each lesson begins with a read aloud of a

Scott Foresman Reading Street is a great program that supports the balanced
literacy model. It also contains above, below, and on grade level leveled
readers for each grade.

I might also add to what Erika posted; if you are expected to use a basal
series, Reading Street is a very tolerable one. Leveled readers, both high and
low, great selection of a variety of genre, and many supplemental materials. I
have been pleasantly pleased with the series.
