How can a good reader not do all of the strategies at once while reading?
I think modeling is the key to it all. I stop all the time and model by
saying things like, I just made a connection, did you? Or, I was
wondering.

Can anyone share an experience about a comprehension strategy which worked
effectively with English as second language learners?
