I just finsihed Peak by Roland Smith. It would be a great read a loud, and
leaves you hanging on your seat. It is new out this year, so not many of
your students would have read it yet. It is a ficitional story about a
teenage
boy who climbs Mount Everest.

I have used War Comes to Willy Freeman, Sarah Bishop, Johnny Tremain, and My
Brother Sam is Dead with 8th graders. My students enjoyed War Comes to
Willy Freeman the most, and they liked My Brother Sam is Dead. The other two
were not their favorites, but as usual, it depends on the reade
