I like the flexible sequence idea.
Personally, I feel that the best order to teach strategies is what goes
with your full curriculum. In other words, if you're studying explorers in
social studies and working on a project, I would want to work on text
structure, text features, and graphic aids.
II plan my year using a specific order because I NEED it! And I think in 1st
there is a logic to it for the kids. I start by building stamina and teaching
about metacognition, building the workshop procedures with the kids. Then I
move into schema, but I don't stop teaching about metacognitio
