I'd love to read from some of you who have used the plan for the first
twenty days as advocated in The Daily Five and some of you who chose
instead the steps given in Guiding Readers and Writers. Why did you
chose the schedule you did and how do you feel about it? Thanks.

I have used neither, but am familiar with only the Guided Readers and
Writers. I strongly recommend these steps to our first year teachers, as so
many of them are alternatively endorsed, so that they can find their own
footing in the classroom.

I, too, provide the Guiding Readers from Fountas & Pinnell to new teachers
at training. We purchased a book for each teacher in grades 2-6, so I'm
not violating copyright laws.
