Grand Conversations is a book worth its weight in gold. I have used it

I think literacy circles should be during the reading block but they are not
the same as your guided reading.
Your guided reading is when you are working directly with a small group of
students. I think of that as acceleration.
Literacy circles are when small groups are reading different books,
In my school, we have book clubs in gr 3-5 during the Reading Workshop.
The mini-lesson is targeted to grow the conversation using the
strategy/skill modeled. Guided reading can also occur at this time with
Clubs that are not scheduled to meet that day - the participants will do
