To add to the ebird discussion: I attended a meeting today where the new
Important Bird Area (IBA) along the Mississippi River from the Washington
Avenue bridge in Mpls. down to Hastings,
This morning on the way to work, between 8:10 and 8:25am, I stopped to enjoy
the spectacle of a 1000+ American White Pelicans, perhaps an addition 1000
Double-crested Cormorants, and hundreds of gulls at Black Dog Lake in
Burnsville.

I did not receive any mail about the owls in fact I have not receive any =

Personally I think they should be thrown in jail, and the guy who killed
10 should get a life sentence. Revoking a hunting license is akin to
spanking a little kid. It does absolutely nothing. They will still
have guns, they will still figure out ways to go shoot stuff. It just
seems
they are punks, but i have an idea...
take away their licenses and firearms, then make them responsible for
materials, construction, and placement of 400 nest boxes in northeast
minnesota...during the winter. they'll think twice about shooting owls in
2008.
