I am not sure that there is a reliable place in SE Minnesota to find the
Upland Sandpiper. Looking at the 1998 Hertzel Janssen MOU paper County
Nesting Records of Minnesota Birds shows only three counties (and I'm
stretching SE Minnesota to include all the counties south and east of
Upland Sandpipers are regular summer residents in the
Kasota Prairie area of southwestern Le Sueur County
and adjacent Blue Earth County. This area has also
had summer records of Henslow's Sparrow and Loggerhead
Shrike (documented nesting). Other great regulars to
that area include Grasshopper

How about what's going on with the Non Game Department in the DNR?
Lee Pfannmuller says changes in the Nongame Program are part of an
overhaul of the Ecological Services Division, and the overhaul is
still in the proposal stage. It looks like the Nongame Program is
being taken away from
