We went to Byllesby this freezing, windy morning on the hunt for
shorebirds. Tons of swallows flew over the lake. Cliff swallows were
everywhere. We didn't see much, but then Jim Mattsson showed up and

Not having much time for birding, but Kim saw a nice assortment of warblers
this week, but couldn't refind the Mockingbird at Rice Lake NWR. There were
2 Willets and a Semi-Palmated Sandpiper at Garrison in Crow Wing County on

Last evening I saw an Osprey on the west lake near the power plant, and
pulled my vehicle over to observe the bird. It flew back towards the

high above the East Bank of the U of MN. Good to hear their twittering
and to see their cigar bodies and scimitar wings slicing up the late

This just in! A beautiful Baltimore Oriole just flew into my arbor and
appears to be gathering nesting material! Yiipeee. Plus my first house

Spring Lake Park
Harris Sparrows arrived yesterday at Spring Lake Park. Also, late
yesterday afternoon, in the center island of the pond at the southwest
corner of 85th and the frontage road just west of University Avenue is a
Yellow Crowned Night Heron perching on a limb overhanging the water.

Cool sighting this morning @06:15AM.
Saw a lone Harris Sparrow at my platform feeder. Looks like he nibbled a bit
for about 6 minutes then departed. Could not relocate him after gettin
