Betsy and I headed up to Duluth today to look for the Gray Crowned Rosy
Finches, Northern Hawk Owl, and to check out the harbor/canal.
The feeders are gone and so are the GCRF.
Common Goldeneyes, Common Mergansers, and Mallards in the canal.

The 170th St. Gyrfalcon put on a good show this afternoon. It was in
view nearly continuously from 3-5 p.m., mostly perched on the
irrigation pipe about 1/2 mi. S of 170th St. E and 100-200 yards E of
U.S. 52. In 2 hr, I watched it make at least 8 separate passes
through the large (~10,000
gyrfalcon, a bit like clockwork: on 170th, south field, by 3:30--may
have been ground-feeding first, then suddenly appeared on the irrigation
equipment--made a couple of tentative flying feints at a duck, but
quickly returned to perch

Ventured north to Aitkin County yesterday (2/10) - Tamarack, CR 5/Palisade,
CR 18, CR 3 & 1.
Tamarack - Nine Sharp-tailed Grouse present, eight 1/2 mile south of town,
one under the second set of feeders on Kestrel Avenue. Pine Grosbeaks & a
single Shrike also present.
