Migration here still a bit slow - 74 species in the northern Sherburne
(including the refuge) southern Mille Lacs County area - ponds and lakes
just beginning to open up - 20 species of waterfowl (17 ducks) - Turkey
Vultures, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Chipping
, impeding his woodcock/rabbit-hunt!
However, he hadn't long to wait before comfort won out and sent us home.

A pair of Bluebirds were checking out a house this morning, as usual I
don't have the nest cam set up yet, and won't for a few days given the
weather. They're not likely to stay or nest yet anyway. We've been
able to watch and tape a pair of Bluebirds followed by a pair of Tree
Swallows
Thanks Jim., I forgot the Sparrow Hawk.

There was just a male bluebird here in Minnetonka, as well.

A pair of merlins were hunting juncos at our feeders during last weekend's
snow storm. We saw two kills, and may have missed others. We are located
on the north shore of Lake Bemidji, and have had Merlins nest in the area
the last couple years. I have not seen them since Sunday, though...so
at cbburnet.com or at 612-728-2232.
