Good Morning: We have been observing large groups of Pine Siskins off and on
in our backyard around our bird feeder and our several clump white birch trees
the past few weeks. Today they were dripping from the trees and feeders. We
estimated a minimum of 100 Pine Siskins, probably more.

Gene Bauer, Kathy Thom and I birded about the county today to start our
annual lists all over again. We ended up with 36 species, some of them pretty
interesting!
Highlights:
Tufted Titmouse Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - both reported during our CBC at a
feeder between Cannon
Afton CBC, Afton SP, Jan 1:
Five of us hiked the trails, and found 21 species. Among them was a
flock of 30+ Common Redpolls, feeding on birches in a ravine south of
the ski area, and 60+ white-winged crossbills feeding in a band of
spruce and red pine on the far north side of the park. (For
