Not an unusual find, but for those who may be seeking this species in
Lyon Co., a nesting pair is apparently back near the intersection of
250th St and 120th Ave.

At 8:20pm this evening I have a Henslow's Sparrow calling from my 7 acre

I searched the Coon Rapids train station and a nearby neighborhood street
from 3:30-4:45pm today for a possible Phainopepla that was reported
yesterday (see Anthony Hertzel's Rare Bird Alert for the week.) I did not
see nor hear it during my visit. There were very few berries on the crab
apples.

While working in the City of Duluth's Rose Garden today I observed a Northern
Mockingbird three times thru the day. The location is at the western edge of
the rose garden just above Lief Erikson park near the bridge that crosses the
RR track and the statue of Lief Erikson. This is the same place
We have a male Scarlet Tanager eating grape jelly from our orange
shells this afternoon.
A very rare visit at our feeders.

Thanks, Scott !---It's on the border of a Priority Block, so I have
them in my notes to record for last year. However, I never did get
back in to see a pair or find the nest cavity, which I had seen prior
to the BBA when they nested right off the main backwater path.

A male Connecticut Warbler was 50 yards northwest of northern end of Rapids
Lake in thickets below Cedars this morning. He was also singing repeatedly.
He seemed to be following a pair of Tennessee Warbler and a Magnolia Warbler
wherever they went. Besides Yellow Warbler and a couple of conc
Brandon Breen and I found several Prothonotary Warblers at Crosby Farm Park
this morning. One female was right along the paved road near the east end of
the park (about 100 yards west of where the road curves west on the south edge
of the lake).
We also ventured back to the backwater location t
Brewster's Warbler, Kunkel WMA, southern Mille Lacs County (just off 95,
west of Princeton).
Bird sang a ~7 note song, five fast notes, then a buzzy note (not as strong
as a Blue-winged), then a concluding note similar to the first five. Have
heard them sing this way in Sherburne Refuge befor
westwood bird walk today 8am Scarlet tanager and 16 species of warblers
yesterday!!! VIC
