Hi everyone,
In my posting yesterday, I made an error which needs clarifying: the Steele
County Snowy Owl was seen 2.5 miles east where Steele County CR 23 intersects
with WASECA CR 4. There is a two steeples church at this junction as well.
So sorry for the error!
Good birding!

Also mentioned is someone named Eckhert. I think they meant Kim Eckert.

We, too, saw the article about Bob Janssen in the Star Tribune. If you have a
print copy of the paper, it's in Section B page 1. Nice story about Bob's many
birding activities.

The Long-tailed Duck was still on Lake Calhoun this morning at 9:15. It was
about 400-500 yards north of the southwest corner of the lake and easily
identified from shore with binoculars. Two loons were another 100 yards
north and near the northwest corner of the lake was a Pied-billed Grebe.

A friend and I looked on Lake Calhoun from 11am-noon today and we did NOT
see the Long-tailed Duck. We drove around the whole lake. We did see the
two Common Loons and a Horned Grebe.
Please post if someone sees the bird again. Thanks, and good birding--

which makes it a little more difficult to find.

Hi all,
We were unsuccessful in finding the Steele County Snowy Owl this morning. A
few other birders were making an attempt as well and they were also
unsuccessful to my knowledge.
On a high note, there was quite a variety of waterfowl on Clear Lake in
Waseca including Snow Geese,
The duck was still present shortly after noon, in the SW corner of the
lake. Leslie Marcus had told us it had been hanging around the dock,
though we did not at first see it. We all headed north along the west
shore, where we found the Horned Grebe. Then Leslie spotted the duck
diving repeatedly
I learned of the trapping program last year from Raptor Center staff, but
the set-up time required might still give a window of time in which to see
an owl, provided we check on a regular basis.
