Lots of Lesser Scaup (roughly 20), about 5 Hooded Mergansers, about 10
"Bluebills", 1 red tailed hawk (juv) that actually buzzed the ducks, 1 pied
billed grebe, 3 wood ducks, 10 shovelers, as well as a large number of mallards
and Canada Geese.
Finally: 3 Swamp sparrows.

Went for a walk on my lunch at Crosby Park. No migrants of note-lake is still
ice covered, and the backwaters seem to only have Mallards and Canada Geese.
On my way back to work saw my FOY Hooded Meganser on a small pond behind the
Lilydale town offices. Pond is spring-fed, so it is ice-free alm
Despite the unfavorable wind direction there was some blackbird movement this
morning at Rapids Lake MVNWR. Some birds seen include: Canada Geese, Trumpeter
Swan, Wood Duck(6), Gadwall(11), Common Goldeneye(28), Hooded Merganser(7),
Common Merganser(1), Bald Eagle(12), Northern Flicker(4), Brown
Hi everyone,
Each Monday on my day off I usually do a day trip to go birding. This Monday
the
weather is supposed to be great, but I'm quite torn as to where to go. I was
thinking between Lake City and Wabasha for Eagle viewing, but as the weather
warms are they still found there or might I be
St Louis County, Dave Olson yard,
Two and 1/2 miles east of HWY 73 at the Jct
of McNiven Rd (St Louis Cty 66) and
Laitala Rd (Balkan Township Rd 7840).
