At 2PM there were 12 greater white-fronted geese in the pond on Pioneer Rd
about 200 yards north of Baily Rd in Woodbury (Washington Co). I'm not sure if
they just arrived or were there earlier and I didn't see them.

Considering purchasing my first scope and would appreciate suggestions/advice.

Some birds today in Carver County included 275 Greater White-fronted Geese(170
heading west over Salem Ave, 95 heading west over Rapids Lake MVNWR, 10 on ice
of Assumption Lake), 1 Ross's Goose at Assumption Lake, 1 Sandhill Crane at
Rapids Lake, and 2 Western Meadowlarks along Salem Ave.

Well, both Cannon and Wells Lakes are just about completely ice-free making
the waterfowl much tougher to see. The ducks, what are still around, are really
spread out. That being said, I am still getting the occasional Goldeneye and am
still seeing a lot of Common Mergansers
