On Tuesday evening I wandered into my backyard to fill a feeder. I avoid
the backyard in the mornings because of all the wood ducks and mergansers
around. But, when I passed one of my wood duck houses, I flushed a hen on
the eggs. She sounded like a merganser. Since she was gone, I looked in

Wright County Birding Day
Field Trip Report
Enjoyed a beautiful day of birding in Wright county today. Over all migration
was slow, but we did manage to turn up some interesting species. Here are some
of the locations that we spent time
Hi All--
Erika and I banded a Yellow-beliied Sapsucker today as it attempted to
drink from our water feature. Apparently the literature maintains that
sapsuckers get most of their water from their sap wells. A photo of the
