Just heard my FOY Common Nighthawk here in St. Louis Park. And last night, I
came home to find fireflies twinkling in the marsh.

This morning I took a walk to Hartley Nature Center (northeast side of
Duluth) to hike around and soak up some of the beautiful spring elements
that are now coming out up here. The 1-mile round trip hike was a lot of
fun, and it is nice to hear many warblers making their way into the
deciduous and
returning home from the Festival of the Birds in Detroit Lakes, found a pair of
Trumpeters on a pond just south of Battle Lake on Hwy 78.

While numbers of migrant warbler have been poor in the county, shorebirding in
the New Germany area has been pretty good over the past week. I have only been
able to manage 12 warbler species since May 17 with the best being 2 male
Mourning Warbler at Rapids Lake on Saturday and a female Canada
Along these notes, last Friday we observed two snowy egrets on Lake Henry on
the Albion Wildlife Management Area near Annandale in Wright County. Lake
Henry is located just off Highway 5, and to the west at the intersection of
Highway 5 with Lathrop Avenue.
