I made a quick loop around the Prairie's Edge Wildlife Drive this morning, from
6:30 to 7:45. Birds are still singing like crazy, and sparrows are abundant
(grasshopper, field, clay-colored) or very common (vesper, song, chipping,
swamp), with many perched in the open and close to the road.
On 557 Lane to Schimek County Park east of Good Thunder, we have
spotted a Red-headed Woodpecker on numerous occasion on the power
poles along the road.
However,we missed a great photo op this morning when two (hopefully a
pair) posed nicely on opposite sides of the same pole.

I've been helping monitor a number of local osprey nests this spring. And, was
invited by Three Rivers Park District to come along for osprey banding in
Chaska this morning. Caught some decent photos of the osprey babies as well as
the parents repeatedly strafing us.
At 11:30 am today, I listened for the Hooded Warbler, which was recently
reported by Drew Smith on June 27th at 140th St. Marsh.
Instead, I later viewed a cooperative Bell's Vireo as a consolation bird
farther west, on the north side of the road. I first heard it singing close
