Today, I birded with Steve and Jo Blanich and Butch Ukura -- and we
found a lot. We found several fields that had shorebirds, but the best
ones were about three miles north of Aitkin near the junction of CR 1
and CR 22. There we found several hundred shorebirds including: GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, L
As an update to Paul Budde's post of last Friday, Minnesota now has
Dickcissel reported in 86 out of 87 counties. The only county missing is
Cook.
The farthest North county in Wisconsin has the same South border as Carlton
county..Minnesota has 21 counties with a South border North of this li
Two adult Common Gallinules were present this morning at the pond in extreme
southwestern Wright Co where Frank Gosiak and Milton Blomberg had found one on
Sunday (see the MOU sighting database for 7/8 for a Google map that they posted
to the site). Best viewing would be in afternoon or evening,
Does anyone have specific locations on Dickcissels in the following
counties?
Lake of the Woods
Roseau
Marshall

Shorebird variety continued to be pretty much the same as it has been.
Habitat, though, is drying fast. Without significant rain I may be out of
luck by early next week. Any other typical shorebird habitat in Carver County
has too much water.
