This morning there were several bohemian waxwings feeding on fruit trees at
the corner of 3rd St. and Hawley St. in Lake Park.

Birds and Beers will be held on Dec. 13th at the Lion's Tap at 6pm until about

Apologies for the lateness of this post. Susan and I had a Northern Hawk
Owl in the Sax Zim bog on Saturday. We first saw it at 1:10pm and it was
still there at 3:00pm when we left the area for Duluth. We could not
locate a Great Gray, but had good looks at a small flock of BB Magpies as
well
Following up on Herb's post, I went looking for the grosbeaks again today,
hoping to get a photo. I didn't find any in the original spot, or in the St.
Ben's area, but I DID find 4 birds feeding in a crabapple tree on 13th Ave SE,
about 1/2 block south of University Ave. in St. Cloud. 13th
This afternoon I found 4 Bohemian waxwings, along with about a dozen cedar
waxwings, in Sartell. The site was at 20th St. N 4th Ave. N. in Sartell.
From Hwy. 15 and Co. Rd. 1 north of St. Cloud (Walmart corner), turn west on CR
1 (which is also Riverside Drive - goes along the Miss. River)
This morning I saw a Great Gray Owl north of Tamarack in eastern Aitkin County.
Also, there were several Rough-legged Hawks and I have had a few Pine and
Evening Grosbeaks at my feeders.

Over the past few days I have been out showing a few birdwatchers around
throughout northern Minnesota, and have been keeping eBird lists of the
birds observed per location. Yesterday we Started at Sax-Zim Bog, and
meandered around Duluth upon the afternoon and evening hours.

Chet Meyers called and asked me to post for him that he saw 2 adult Lesser

We went to Gooseberry Fall SP to look at the birds there and found a very
unexpected Hermit Thrush when we walked down to the falls. It was sticking
close to the rock edges along the river underneath the top waterfall. I
got a few pictures of it, one while it was on the same side of the river
