Hi All—
Apologies for this late post. Last Monday John Holden and I banded a
single female White-winged Crossbill near Dundas, Rice Co. The female
flew up to John’s feeder, looked around, and calmly walked into one of
our banding traps. We have not seen the bird since.
I did take photos, which
Yesterday Wednesday December 19 I observed the Varied Thrush found on the
Duluth CBC 12/15. It was in a crabapple tree 4 or 5 houses west of the
intersection of 47th Ave E and Oakley Street in the Lakeside neighborhood. The
tree is right next to the road and the bird was tolerant of vehicles.
After clearing the ground around some of our shrubs this morning and
spreading seed, a flock of 50Am Goldfinch with 9 Red Polls came in and
cleaned up.

The Harris's Sparrow was at my feeder again this morning, this marks 3 days
that it's been around. Between this the Clark's Nutcracker about a mile away
Shoreview really has become the Land of the Lost ;)

Just had a Carolina wren at my suet feeder. If it stays around I will report
again.
