I created a Snowy Owl map that includes all sightings reported on the MOU
listserve from November 1 to the present. I am aware that there are
probably many more sightings reported to Ebird but I have no idea how to
access sightings of Minnesota Snowy Owl reports on the eBird website.

Every year, right around Christmas, a male cowbird makes an appearance at my
window-mounted feeder. He chows down with great gusto. I suspect it’s not the
same cowbird, but what do I know? I do know that cowbirds are not the favorite
bird of most folks, but I’m always happy to see the Christmas

Be extra careful about this owl. It's been a bit spooked. And the man
on the snowmobile who scared it off took some verbal abuse from an angry
photographer before she realized he owned the land. He left in a huff to
call the sheriff. I went to his farmhouse to apologize ( though I didn't

Many thanks for this post. I headed out at 1 and was there for an hour and
the owl was on the pole, very tame. It went from one pole to the next and

I've had report of a Snowy Owl on Saturday (12/21/13) on U of M Golf Course,
Falcon Heights, Ramsey Co. It was arguing with a hawk (Red-tail?). Both flew
off.
Midland Hills golf course is nearby, so there's plenty of open area that a
Snowy might like for hunting.

While looking for the snowy owls we found a red-headed woodpecker along 14

were surprised to find a pair of horned larks feeding along the side of the
road (33) on this first day of winter. We also enjoyed two great gr

Because nothing has been posted yet about what species of note were seen on
these 3 CBCs, and because visiting birders might be interested in looking for
them, here's a brief summary for some of these (and please note I did not see
many of them). Although I went on all 3 CBCs, there may have bee
