Seen and heard singing lustily near the small wetland at Wirth Lake.
I also heard a WARBLING VIREO and BALTIMORE ORIOLE but could never get my
binocs on them.

Josh Wallestad and I found 8 White-faced Ibis's this morning in the
Spellman Lake area, the birds themselves were found on Meidd Lake on the
southwest shoreline feeding near shore! Most of the land is public around

This morning Steve Carlson and I studied a male Ruff at the Bass Ponds,
Hennepin Co. It was out in the main lake, northwest of the beaver pond
area where the creek empties into the marsh. We watched it for about 2.5
hours and it was still there when I left at 12:30. Steve found it

Miedd Lake is in Yellow Medicine County northwest of the town of Cottonwood
in Lyon County. A scope will be necessary if viewing from the north end and
the birds are in the southwest corner. Garrett and I hiked along the
shoreline for quite a ways to get better looks. Bring mud boots.

Several blue-gray gnatcatchers on the very northeast bay of Hay Lake, Eagan,
Dakota county (immediately west of Rt. 3/Roberts Trail). Treat of the morning!
Gnatcatchers always make one smile (well, me at least).

Dick Green just called to report an unidentified dark ibis in the
Duluth Harbor today, May 3rd. He and Larry Snyder first saw the bird
at about 12:45 from the parking lot near the Sky Harbor airport on
Park Point. It flew in off Lake Superior, and then flew back and
forth over the harbor befor

On a brief walk this morning in Longville, I saw a Baltimore oriole,

A White-crowned Sparrow just appeared at our feeders in Cannon Falls this
afternoon, very neat and handsome in its breeding plumage.
180th St. Marsh was quite lively yesterday and today. Other birders and
photographers saw two to five American Golden Plovers, a beautiful sight in

John Hockema, Herb Dingmann and I relocated the Ruff around 6pm from a
different vantage point at the NE corner of the Bass Ponds looking NE at about
a 45 degree angle. It is more muddy than the original spot and may be very
difficult after tonight's rain.

We've had scores of useful reports coming in the past few days on the
Minnesota Birding Facebook group. I'll do my best to summarize some
highlights here, but I will not be able to provide a comprehensive report;

Today (5/3/15):
In Crow Wing County, John R
Saw 64 species this weekend, most of them at Forestville-Mystery Cave State
Park, Fillmore County. New or recently arrived migrants included the following:
5/2 - Broad-winged Hawk, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Barn Swallow, House
Wren, Winter Wren, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Brown Thrasher, Black
Sorry for not including my location with the sparrow report. I'm 10 miles
sw of Rochester in Olmsted county.
Today White-crowned and Harris's Sparrows joined all the White-throated
Sparrows under the feeders. Also brief appearance by female Rose-breasted
Grossbeak.
