This morning's exercise at Rachel Lily offered a couple of migrant
surprises. While the many Song Sparrows were expected, Fox Sparrows were
hoped for. Instead, the wooded hillside south of the cabin was hiding a
larger and even more russet bird, a Wood Thrush. Hermit Thrush would have
been less

The male Mountain Bluebird originally found on March 5 by Milton Blomberg
at Island View County Park near Clear Lake was seen again today by Herb

While searching for the (probably long-since-gone) long-tailed duck,
I found a lesser black-backed gull midst the many ring-billed gulls.
It was directly out from the new observation platform at the old
Cedar Ave. boardwalk... It was
Olive-sided Flycatcher seen on Creekwood Drive in Anoka cty.

I have no proof but when I first scanned the field for any other oddballs.
I was looking for potential Icelands and thayers. One gull was next to a
ring billed but it was noticeably smaller. What stood out was that it had
greenish legs. I had no idea what it was. I tried to get photos through
