Mary Lee and I birded AHATS, the old arsenal area, from 6:30-9:00 this
morning. In spite of the early fog there was good activity as we found 55
species. The best finds were Dickcissels in two different grassy areas, a
pair of eastern Towhees, singing Willow and Alder Flycatchers, Trumpeter
Swans

Our group today enjoyed a pleasant walk at the Bass Ponds. With lots of birds
singing and lots of birds seen.
Here are a few of the species we observed today:
Trumpeter Swan
Green Heron
Thirteen birders joined me on a memorable field trip to the state trail off
of Collischan Road near Red Wing. The birds were singing from the tree
tops. The day was still and gray. Ample layers of repellent kept the
mosquitoes for the most part off our skins, but could not muffle the buzz
around
