Friday afternoon we arrived at Prairie Marsh Farm to open up the farm house for
the spring and fill the bird feeders that had been empty for five months. After
2 inches of snow overnight numerous birds soon found the feeders or were
seeking shelter in the grove.

A friend in Stearns Co texted me saying that she saw two whooping cranes
this morning for about 30 minutes, starting around 8:40 am. She said they
were all white with black and red on their heads, and they were definitely
larger than sandhill cranes. She saw them just north of the Kandiyohi Co

Hello -
Any recent reports on open water and ducks/geese at Lac Qui Parle (or any
other western lakes) would be greatly appreciated. Open water in the metro
area is still pretty limited and I am getting antsy for spring.
