nesting in an old bluebird house. I found it about 2 weeks ago while cleaning

We had one rusty blackbird under our feeder this afternoon. It was accompanied
by:
juncos
downy woodpeckers
hairy woodpecker
cardinal
purple, house, goldfinches
pine siskins
chickadees
a ruffed grouse
blue jays
robins
fox sparrow
white red-breasted nuthatches
A very good bird day in spite of
a pickup coming up too fast behind me to dawdle safely.

My husband spotted a Red-headed woodpecker about 3 mi. S. of the city of
Ottertail along Hwy. 78 this AM. Strangely, it was sitting on the road pecking
at some roadkilled creature. I've never heard of such behavior before. Anyone
else?

Just a general question here. When the rest of you add birds to your life
lists do you include ones that were observed only because they were dead
(road kills, radio towers, window-strikes ...)? I feel a little guilty

We had a Rose-breasted Grosbeak hanging out around and on our suet feeder most

of robins has begun a nest in a tree near our house and have thrilled my kids
