Yesterday at @400PM, I saw five Buff-breasted Sandpipers at Jirik Sod Farms
(Dakota Co.). They were at the location described in the previous post, on
the southernmost green field on the west side of the road (Blaine Ave.)
across from the farm office building. The
Apologies for the late posting. Yesterday evening (June 9th). I heard a
Bell's Vireo singing pretty consistently between 600PM-700PM next to the
soccer fields at Rose Park in Burnsville.
Rose Park is located off of County Hwy. 42 on the south side of the road,
just west of the Burnsville Mall.
Yesterday Caleb Ashling and I found an immature Great Black-backed Gull and
a Long-tailed Duck at the Thief River Falls Sewage Lagoons in Pennington
County. Both birds were seen @400PM.

There are at least 40 Caspian Terns resting on a small sandbar on
Normandale Lake in Bloomington right now, as viewed from my office window.

Briefly, I did a walk this AM around Lake Normandale in Bloomington early
this morning, and there appears to be some major warbler movement going on,
13 species observed over about 45 minutes listed below:
Connecticut Warbler (singing repeatedly from the undergrowth on the south
side of the lake)
Caleb Ashling and I did a brief run through the 180th st. marsh area in
Dakota Co. after work today, hoping for some shorebirds before the rain. We
saw some, but overall it was pretty slow. Highlights follow:
Flooded field on 210th st., (S of Vermillion, near it's intersection
w/Northfield
One female Common Redpoll, seen in my backyard this afternoon (1/8) in
Burnsville (Dakota Co.), on the nyjer feeder that I bought
specifically to try to attract redpolls. Looks like the investment
paid off! First new yard bird I've had in while.
