This morning 5 horned larks were seen flying over the Anoka - Washington line
in Columbus, a few miles south of TH 97. A little later
100 or so very noisy Red-Winged Blackbirds were seen in Carlos Avery WMA a half
mile west of the Headquarters building. Roads in

We found our first No. Shrike of the fall this AM in the City of Columbus, just
west of Gander Mountain on the road leading to the race track. Usually we have
our first shrike in late October so this is a " late" early date for us.

The Clarks/Western Grebe was still present on Lake George, Anoka County from
9:30 -10;00 AM this morning. It was straight out from the boat landing in the
park but was too far out to get a positive identification. If a Clarks it would

At noon today an Ibis Sp? was present in the grassy area at the extreme NW
portion of Pool # 4 at Carlos Avery, Anoka VCounty. It was about 400-500 ft
west of pool # 10 road and was too far away to determine the species. We also
saw a Western Kingbird in the area, our first ever in the refuge.
