I came across an article today which cites two interesting studies. The
result have horrible implications and likely plays into the avian
apocalypse we are
to see them.
During migration ,when possible, use white blinds or curtains to mute the
reflection of vegetation. Keep blinds closed when not home for the day.
Nothing is perfect, but we should all try. Collidescape is great and
effective, but more suitable for an office building.

I just saw the eagle pair at their nest on I -494 at Bryant Lake. This is
just north of exit 11C.
Also, the pair is back at their nest on Gray's Baý, can be seen from the
east side of Hennepin County 101.

While I have had a flock of about 10 Pine Siskins coming to the yard
feeders most of the winter, all but two have left. The pair has been
coming to the sunflower chips several times a day for over a week and I
wonder if they will stay to nest.

One of our staff found a dead owl in her backyard, St. Michael, Wright
County, over the holiday weekend. The eyes are frozen shut, but it has
prominent ear tufts and is very white on the breast with some barring.
It appears very light weight.

Bob Russell raised the question about the potential danger of the large
winter concentration of trumpeter swans at Monticello. This is a
concern for TTSS and the Minnesota

hang suet. I have had one Creeper =
all winter coming in to feed at the base of the tree where the suet is =
hanging. This was the first time I saw 3 together and they appeared to =
be staying together as a group. They look especially small when the =
Pileated comes flying in!

the chickens, none became dinner for the hawk. After the commotion, all =
hens and roosters made a bee line for their coop.
Also, had a flock of about a dozen American Robins scratching around in =
the leaves.
