Canada Geese are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, so moving
an active nest would not be advisable. If it gets to be a problem, I would
recommend your friend contacts their local Conservation Officer (
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/officerpatrolareas/index.html).

Went to the St. Olaf Arboretum in Northfield today, and saw
8 buffleheads
12 mallards
3 redheads
5 American coots
2 Northern shovelers
1 ring-necked pheasant
All seen in the big pond by the entrance (pheasant heard nearby).

Saw a male redwing blackbird displaying with konkralee call on top of a
tree next to an impound at the intersection of oak and university in
Minneapolis at 9:50 am.

On the east river road trail in Minneapolis, about 1/4 of a mile south from
the Franklin Ave bridge there were 3 common mergansers (2 males, 1 female),
4 mallards and 9 Canada geese in an inlet on the Mississippi. 1/2 mile
north of the Franklin Ave bridge, on the same trail, there were well over

My dad and I drove around the Lacrosse and Brownsville area today and saw
3000-5000 swans, ~100 BAEA, rafts of 2000-4000 CANV with RNDU, scaups,
AMWI, NOPI and MALL interspersed throughout, 20 SACR, 1 NOHA (female), 2
EABL, 3 RTHA all on or near the river.
The LEWO was present today around 3:50 at
Saw blue-headed vireo (U of M campus in Saint Paul), ovenbird,
yellow-rumped warblers, and black-and-white warblers (golf course next to
the Saint Paul campus) this morning. Also saw a savanna sparrow yesterday
morning at the wetland on the Saint Paul campus (Sarita wetland).
