Sprent several hours tramping through the Geothetic WMA southeast of Spring
Valley. I observed two Eastern Meadow larks, the first seen on my part in
several decades.

Birding around the Goethite WMA in Fillmore County. Again 3 trumpeters and 9
sandhills in addition the usual geese wood ducks, lesser scaup and ring billed
ducks. New today was a flock of Eastern Meadowlarks (15) and bluebirds (5)
and a fox sparrow. Also noted an immature Bald Eagle, numerous
Goethite WMA & area.Todays visit. 23 bluebirds, 2 mature eagles 3 red
tail hawks, same 3 trumpeters, 3 meadow larks, 1 kestral. Also my backyard

5 American Woodcock in farm woodlot 4 miles north of Wykoff in Fillmore
County.
Several hundred mainly Herring Gulls along recently flooded field of Root
River adjacent to Rushford in Fillmore
County.

A rare white winged scooter was located and tentatively identified in
Fillmore County by John Hockema.
Also in the same farm pond Blue Wing Teal, Mallard, Lesser Scaup, Lesser
Yellowlegs & Killdeer.
South of Preston on County # 17 about 4 miles, then east on C

We took our annual winter trip to Sax Zim for the weekend. Saw the usual
culprits but no snowy owls. Then a Northern Goshawk showed up on Blue Spruce
Road past the Morse's feeding station.

An injured Snowy Owl was found a week, ago in a ditch in rural Fillmore
County, near our Spring Valley home. I participated in its rescue and removal

A fun outing today at the Goethite WMA in Fillmore County, With the assistance
of Baron the G.S.D, I saw 17 snow geese, 50 some Mallards, 4 Hooded Mergansers,
2 mature Bald Eagles, lot of Juncoes, many Blue Winged Teal, 2 Eastern
Meadowlark, 1 Wild Turkey, heard a Sandhill Crane in the marsh, s

Gary E and I went out this a.m. to visit the Kappers Ponds (with written
permission) here in Fillmore County. We saw lots of White-Throated Sparrows,
several Field Sparrows, a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, a Palm Warbler and many Coots.
Earlier at his place I saw my first ever Rufus-sided Towhee along
John Hockema and Chris were here today confirming my sighting of a female
summer tanager at my platform feeder.
The bird visited all day today til about 3:00 P.M. My address is 22703 Oak
Hill Drive Spring Valley, Minn. I sent a picture to the rare bird gallery.
John Hockema , Alex Watson and myself recently identified Henslow Sparrows
and Sedge Wrens resident at Hvoslev WMA in southeaster Fillmore Count near
Amhearst.

I turned up 9 gray (Hungarian) partridges yesterday at the Goethite WMA in

Baron the GSD and I did our hiking/birding thing today along Canfield Creek,
Forestville State Park in Fillmore County. Looking up from the trail I noted
a kettle of Bald Eagles counting 15 spiraling about. While not unusual this
time of year above the bluffs on the Big River between Wabasha and
