Lots of yellow-rumped warblers in Winona County this evening. Had winter wrens
yesterday.

There was a pied-billed grebe at Prairie Island in Winona this morning. Large
rafts of canvasbacks, scaup and ring-necked on the river.

Great blue heron, Coot, lots of red-winged blackbirds, woodcock, killdeer, all
seen around Winona. Migration is breaking out!

Saw two pair of wood ducks swimming in the expanding open water on Praire
Island. First I have seen this spring. There were also a few lesser canada
geese that I assume are migrants.

Yesterday morning when driving to LaCross I notices that a peregrine falcon was
sitting on the often used dead tree perch sticking out of the cliff wall of
Queen's Bluff. Hopefully there will be nesting going on soon.

This afternoon there was a paragrine falcon back on the nesting box on top of
the Bay State Milling building in Winona. The building is at 55 Franklin St.

A yellow-throated warbler was seen this morning along the dike road on
Prairie Island. It was about .3 miles past McNalley Landing on the river side.

Another flock of about 20 white-winged crossbills was seen about the same
time in my front yard at 1113 Country Drive in Winona. This is in Gilmore
Valley west of St Marys

Warmer weather has increased variety. New for me this morning: Black duck,
tundra swan, hooded merganser along with the goldeneyes and common mergasers
that hav e been here for awhile. All on Prairie Island.
