a bald eagle –carrying nesting
material– flying over the Robert Street bridge in downtown St. Paul.
It appeared to be heading toward Dayton's Bluff.

parking lot. Sadly, I was unable to pursue it to identify it to a specific
shrike species. The bird struck me is being more lithe than the Northern
Shrikes I have observed.

As I was riding my bike to work this morning a sandhill crane flew over me at
tree-top height. This was near the intersection of Cherokee Ave. and Baker St.
on the West Side.

I have heard a report from someone in the Mounds Park neighborhood of a pair of
eagles attempting to nest there. Can anyone verify this, please?
Thanks,

You will often hear anachronisms in films. Especially common are kookaburas in
jungle scenes from Africa to Malaysia. And there is the ubiquitous
red-shouldered hawk call that seems to be applied to any bird of prey (although
eagle infractions seem to be the most common).

Yesterday morning around 11:00am (January 24) I saw flock of white-winged
crossbills noisily feeding in the neighbor's spruce trees. These are the first
I have seen in my area (West Side-just across from downtown).

There was an additional/same? individual in downtown St. Paul in the middle of
December. Anyone on this list seen it lately? It was hanging out in the cedars
and dogwoods by the prairie maze.

I neglected to include that the bird was seen near the prairie plantings behind
the Science Museum in downtown St. Paul.

Are you not dooming this bird by feeding it?
