Last night (Monday night) after dark, he found a Boreal Owl on a snowbank in
the alley behind CPL. It was clutching a small bird carcass. He was able to

1 GREAT GRAY OWL--At 12:15pm! This bird was right on CR52 (Arkola Rd) 0.4 miles
east of Owl Avenue. A Great Gray hunting in the middle of a sunny day most
likely means it has hungry mouths to feed at the
back to the car. Got a few shots of him until he saw me,
climbed a little ways up a tree and then thought better of it and ran off. You
got to love Duluth!

As Mike Hendrickson had warned, Owl
Avenue has been logged. Essentially ruined for birding. A 100 foot swath of
mature black spruce has been clearcut on the west side of the road and in some

for Boreal Chickadees. [
