On Monday we had a vaired thrush at the feeders at Tamarac NWR headquarters
around 9:15 am. This bird has not been seen since Monday. Another report
of a varied thrush near Big Sugar Bush Lake came from one of our volunteers
yesterday afternoon. Big Sugar Bush Lake is approximately 10 miles NW
still there.

Arlene Furuseth and Dan Olson called yesterday and said they have a merlin
just outside the MN PCA office in Detroit Lakes. The merlin has been
feeding/killing pigeons around the buildings. Shar Legenhausen also
calledtoday to report the same bird in the same general location. The

I observed ten white-winged crossbills in the headquarters/maintenance area
vicinity of Tamarac NWR (Becker Co.) this morning about 7:30. Its located
about 1/4 mile east of Jct. Becker Co. Rd 26 & 29.
