The Barrow's Goldeneye was not seen today. We searched up and down river.
Several common Goldeneye were seen diving between the floating ice chunks
that the warm weather produced. Birding with Alyssa Murphy.

Barrow's Goldeneye still present at 8:55AM today. It was associating
with Common Goldeneyes on the west side of the bridge crossing the
Mississippi River.

The Barrow's Goldeneye is still present, currently best viewed from the
Anoka County side.
The downtown Minneapolis Snowy Owl was also still present earlier this
morning.

Both an adult male Barrow's Goldeneye and an adult female Barrow's were present
at Canal Park in Duluth today, but they were not associating with each other.
The male Barrow's was instead paired with a female Common, as first noticed by

The Barrows Goldeneye, found yesterday by Kyle TePoel at the Grand Rapids
Sewage Ponds, was still there this morning. I watched it from 8:00-9:00.
It was paired up with a female which appeared to be a common Goldeneye.
They flew several times between the 4 ponds near the entrance to the
facility.
Kyle is correct...the male Barrow's Goldeneye is a pretty easy ID and was
quite approachable. I was able to note the teardrop-shaped spot behind the
bill, the mostly black back with white spots, the lack of green irridescence
that I could see on the Commons, the forward-sloping crown on the head,
I enjoyed yesterday morning/afternoon in Grand Rapids while my wife was there
for some school stuff. Along the Mississippi River there were Common
