Pretty pleased to see Black-capped Chickadees excavating a hole in one of our
dead poplars yesterday. Hope they continue and nest there. Last year I saw
chickadees excavating starting on March 3rd.
Saw a pair of chickadees checking out one of our Gilbertson nest boxes on
Friday.

Oh, the lowly black-capped chickadee. Loved by artists and appreciated by the

public, but totally disregarded by ornithologists. Well, chickadees do do
interesting things,
but these go noticed unless they are banded. And black-capped chickadees

difficult time getting rid of his version so livestock wouldn’t get into it.
Grandpa had to slash n burn. I at least have the advantage of weed killer

In a park under development in Rochester, I watched several chickadees
feeding avidly on seeds of marijuana plants.
I was able to sit in the open less than 10 feet from them, and they kept
